Cary Rajinder Sawhney is one of the UK’s leading Asian film curators/festival programmers and a world class authority on British Asian and South Asian cinema. He was formerly Head of Diversity at the British Film Institute for 7 years, where he led the UK’s largest ever Asian festival – ImagineAsia. He then became Head of Programmes at INIVA (Institute of International Visual Arts), before turning freelance in 2007. Cary is currently involved in organising several prominent film festivals, including Programmer of South Asian film, at London Film Festival, and Founding Director of the award-winning ‘Happy Soul Festival’ Black and Asian mental health Film Festival. He has written two feature screenplays, one of which ‘Devika’ is currently with producers, and written directed a graduation short film at Met Film School, which is currently being considered by major film festivals. He is a BAFTA member and Fellow of Royal Society of Arts and Manufacturing (RSA) and a Trustee of the Satyajit Ray Foundation.
Salim Esmail Bsc ( Econ) FCA is a qualified chartered accountant and A Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. After working for over 20 years as a partner in an accountancy firm he established his own successful practice in Central London in 2006.
Having completed film making courses at the City University, including International Cinema, he has produced short films and has also collaborated on several film scripts.
